Benidorm installs electronic signs and educational radars to improve road safety.
Benidorm City Council, under project 52715/2023, has begun installing electronic signs and educational radars in various locations throughout the municipality. The aim is to strengthen road safety and raise awareness among drivers about speed limits. The company awarded the contract is AKRA SEÑAL.
These new technological tools are part of a municipal strategy aimed at sustainable and safe mobility and are located primarily in school zones, busy avenues, and residential areas where a higher risk of speeding has been detected.
The educational radars do not have a sanctioning function, but rather an informative and educational function. They use brightly lit displays to indicate the speed at which vehicles are traveling in real time, accompanied by visual messages that warn drivers if they exceed the speed limit. If the driver complies with the speed limit, the system displays a positive message, thus encouraging responsible driving.
